The problems we solve

The Problem

In the UK, there are a 26,311 independent financial advisers with 4-6 million people receiving financial advice each year (Pifma 2018). There is an estimated 5.4 million more people willing to pay for advice but not yet receiving it (Citizens Advice, 2015).

Each year, financial stress of the mass-employed costs UK employers £121 billion and 18 million lost working hours (Aegon 2018). Improving financial wellbeing in the workplace is of vital importance to all employers interested in the mental health of their employees but many struggle to reach every single individual at every level.

35 million reasons

In the UK alone, 35 million UK adults regularly access their bank accounts digitally and yet, only 4-6 million people have received financial advice (FAMR 2018). Government and regulators are keen to acknowledge the 'advice gap' where a significant proportion of the UK population believe that they do not have access to, or that they can afford, financial advice. Poor levels of financial wellbeing in society have resulted in 1 in 5 UK households living in poverty (Shelter 2016).

We believe that an 'adviser in your pocket' will be as popular in 10 years time as messaging apps are today.

Closing the advice gap

In the UK's financial adviser market, there is increasing demand for advice, driven by an ageing population, pension freedoms and auto-enrolment, to name a few. FCA research into the advice gap has found that advisers are seeing (on average) 200 clients per year with the average age of an adviser being over 50 years (FCA 2019).

The advice gap is a global issue where a significant proportion of the population do not have access to or believe that they can afford financial advice.

We believe that technology can empower financial advisers to reach more clients and to increase efficiency, scale up advice and meet the demands of compliance for current and future generations.
